Each week will follow a family as they leave their stresses and struggles in credit crunch Britain behind, and immerse themselves in a back to basics life building their own shelters, finding food, and re-evaluating their lives.

Filmed in Panama, Tanzania, Kiribati and the Cook Islands, each programme follows a different family from the moment they leave their home comforts and luxuries in the UK behind, and set out in search of the secrets to a better life.

When they return back home after 3 weeks, how much of a life-changing experience does it prove to be? We revisit our families a month later to discover whether the lessons learnt have changed their lives forever...
